Agnes Grunwald-Spier was born in Budapest in July 1944. After fortune saved them from deportation to Auschwitz, she and her mother were sent to the Budapest ghetto in November. Her grandfather died at Auschwitz. She was a founder-trustee of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, and was recently awarded an MBE for her `services to the Jewish community and Holocaust awareness.' Agnes holds degrees in History \u0026amp; Politics and an MA in Holocaust Studies. She was a member of the Board of Deputies of British Jews for 15 years, a member of the Architects' Registration Board and a Justice of the Peace for 30 years.
