'Guy Garrick', a detective who has made a scientific study of crime, has been the hero of a number of earlier short stories. In this novel he is engaged in tracking down a gang of motor bandits. Arthur Benjamin Reeve was born on 15th October 1880 in New York, USA. Reeve received his University education at Princeton and upon graduating enrolled at the New York Law School. However, his career was not destined to be in the field of Law. Between 1910 and 1918 he produced 82 short stories for Cosmopolitan. During this period he also began authoring screenplays. By the end of this decade his film career was at its peak with his name appearing on seven films, most of them serials and three of them starring Harry Houdini. Due to the film industry's migration to the west coast of America and Reeve's desire to remain in the east he produced less and less work for film. However, in 1927 he entered into a contract to write film scenarios for notorious millionaire-murderer, Harry K. Thaw, on the subject of fake spiritualists. The deal resulted in a lawsuit when Thaw refused to pay. In late 1928, Reeve declared bankruptcy. In 1932 he moved to Trenton to be near his alma mater. He died on 9th August 1936.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52126051926289,"sku":"NLS9783842427983","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783842427983.jpg?v=1757471513"},{"product_id":"gold-of-the-gods-book-arthur-benjamin-reeve-9783842427921","title":"Gold of the Gods","description":"This early work by Arthur Benjamin Reeve was originally published in 1915 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. On his breath was the lingering odor of whisky, yet in his eye and hand none of the effects. He entered quietly, although there was no apparent reason for such excessive caution. Then he locked the door with the utmost care, although there was no apparent reason for caution about that, either. Even when he had thus barricaded himself, he paused to listen with all the elemental fear of the cave man who dreaded the footsteps of his pursuers. In the dim light of the studio apartment he looked anxiously for the figure of his wife. Constance was not there, as she had been on other nights, uneasily awaiting his return. What was the matter? His hand shook a trifle now as he turned the knob of the bedroom door and pushed it softly open.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52146211881233,"sku":"NLS9783842428300","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783842428300.jpg?v=1757596965"},{"product_id":"dream-doctor-book-arthur-benjamin-reeve-9783842427471","title":"The Dream Doctor","description":"This early work by Arthur Benjamin Reeve was originally published in 1914 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography.
