Pronto se encontr  con numerosos problemas, como la acariosis que en el 1916 acab  con las abejas aut ctonas, y que super  recurriendo a la abeja italiana all  ya presente. A partir de esta experiencia naci  en el 1917 la abeja Buckfast.
