Yet I have not found attention paid to it specifically.Old Irish, a regular V1 language, morphologically distinguishes six clause types, to wit, declarative, relative, wh- and polar interrogative, responsive and imperative clause types. After discussing the constituency of the Old Irish verbal complex and the pragmatically marked orders, i.e. cleft-sentence and left-dislocation, the form, function, paradigmatic consistency and syntax of those clause types are then analysed in detail. The other main issues of this study are the descriptively adequate paradigm of clause types and the interaction of clause typing with subordination and with non-verbal predication in Old Irish.This monograph offers a comprehensive view of clause typing, its morphological expression and related phenomena in the earliest Insular Celtic language, and may also contribute to the general consideration of these topics in both the typological and diachronic perspectives.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":51157386199313,"sku":"NGR9783110680300","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51187793101073,"sku":"NIN9783110680300","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52349166715153,"sku":"NLS9783110680300","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3110680300.jpg?v=1751189276"},{"product_id":"studies-in-old-irish-clause-subordination-book-carlos-garca-castillero-9783111441177","title":"Studies in Old Irish Clause Subordination","description":"On the basis of a corpus of Old Irish texts justified and described in the introductory chapter, this monograph considers cases of variation in the expression of clausal subordination: a pair of synonymous light heads, a pair of synonymous temporal conjunctions ‘when’, a pair of paronymous final consecutive markers ‘so that’, as well as the difference between the latter and a marker of purpose subordinate. Each analysis counts with a sufficient number of cases, and deals with descriptive and diachronic issues. This work contributes to the study of the Old Irish syntax and is also of interest for the investigation of clause subordination in both the typological and diachronic perspectives.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52849960812817,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52849960878353,"sku":"NIN9783111441177","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783111441177.jpg?v=1769078846"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/collections\/author-books-by-carlos-garca-castillero.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
