Astfel, am salvat cel puţin prin imprimare fotografică imaginile unor clădiri a căror soartă este  n continuare imprevizibilă la trecerea timpului şi la deciziile proprietarilor sau gestionarilor acestora, clădiri din care o parte deja au dispărut sau au suferit modificări majore. Au fost imortalizate clădirile vechi existente la momentul fotografierii, ridicate  ntre sf rşitul secolului al XVII-lea şi anii 1940 ¬- case de locuit, instituţii, clădiri comerciale, administrative, industriale, militare şi de agrement - ale căror forme, stiluri şi detalii arhitecturale prezervă  ntr-un mod rezonabil imaginea lor iniţială. Ca un element de referinţă nostalgic, unele clădiri sau zone sunt  nsoţite de o imagine veche a aceluiaşi subiect. Imaginile sunt  nsoţite de datarea construcţiilor şi - o bună parte din ele - de date privind foştii proprietari şi locatari, ale căror scurte biografii pot fi consultate  n ultimul capitol.
