The irony of the Compass Rose is that the Communion it denotes is increasingly without direction and has no agreement on the truth it holds to. It was in response to this confusion that the first Global Anglican Future Conference was convened in 2008 and delegates affirmed in the closing paragraph of the Jerusalem Statement and Declaration that 'The primary reason we have come to Jerusalem and issued this declaration is to free our churches to give clear and certain witness to Jesus Christ'. Just as the Compass Rose can be recovered as a powerful symbol of revealed truth once the magnetic north of Scripture is restored, so GAFCON and its Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans seeks, under God and as a movement of the Spirit, to make a major course correction for the twenty-first century by recovering our Anglican heritage of biblical and gospel centred ecclesiology. So this compilation is offered as a resource for delegates to the second Global Anglican Future Conference of 2013 and for all who long to see the Anglican Communion emerge from its present crisis with a new confidence in the inspired Scriptures and the mission of God to which they bear witness. Apart from the contributions of Stephen Noll and Colin Reed, this material originated in addresses and seminars given at the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans Leaders' Conference held in London at St Mark's Battersea Rise in London in April 2012.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49594260750609,"sku":"GOR008007974","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1906327165.jpg?v=1750899910"},{"product_id":"shadow-gospel-book-charles-raven-9780946307784","title":"Shadow Gospel","description":"There have been other discussions of the Archbishop of Canterbury's theology, but this is the first serious attempt to link it with his ecclesiastical policy. The parallel seems to be drawn very tellingly. The Revd Dr Roger Beckwith, formerly warden of Latimer House, Oxford. Charles Raven has provided convincing evidence about the real problem facing us in the Church of England and how this has affected the wider Anglican Communion. He argues that we are experiencing not so much an ecclesial defi cit as a confessional one. His book is an excellent introduction to the deeper issues that sooner or later will affect us all. Rt. Rev John Ellison, Retired Bishop of Paraguay. Archbishop Rowan Williams is the most significant theologian influencing the Anglican Communion at the moment. Therefore it is important for orthodox Anglicans to understand his thinking. Charles Raven has performed a great service by going through Archbishop Williams' work carefully and helping us to see the foundations of his thought and the direction in which he is going. Canon Dr Vinay Samuel, Church of South India and Convenor of GAFCON Theological Resource Group. Charles Raven is Rector of Christ Church Wyre Forest, an Anglican church plant near Kidderminster in Worcestershire, and is a widely read commentator on the Anglican Communion as Director of SPREAD (The Society for the Promotion of Reformed Evangelical Anglican Doctrine). He also serves as a member of the GAFCON Theological Resource Group. Educated at Oxford and Durham Universities, he was ordained into the Church of England in 1988 after working in the banking industry. He is married to Gillian, a teacher, and they have three children.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49657366642961,"sku":"GOR005053218","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0946307784.jpg?v=1751235129"},{"product_id":"john-ray-naturalist-book-charles-raven-9781108004664","title":"John Ray, Naturalist","description":"This biography of John Ray, the seventeenth-century naturalist, was first published in 1942 at the height of the Second World War. It was written by Charles Raven, an eminent theologian who shared Ray's deep respect for intellectual integrity, honest exploration of the natural world, and the value of both theology and scientific endeavour. More than a superb history, this offers an opportunity to reassess the pivotal contributions of a brilliant but often undervalued scientist. Ray's major publications were written in Latin; Raven's linguistic skills - coupled with his passion for natural history - made him ideally suited to interpret Ray's scientific legacy. Raven reviews Ray's academic and scientific careers in the context of the dramatic social upheavals of his time. He evaluates the remarkable long-term and widespread influence of Ray's work on the development of science, alongside the significance of his final book, The Wisdom of God.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52482014183697,"sku":"NLS9781108004664","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53557678833937,"sku":"GOR014959346","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781108004664.jpg?v=1759852567"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/collections\/author-books-by-charles-raven.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
