The interplay between the topics discussed in this text will continue to grow and this collection of courses stands as a partial testimony to this new development. The courses are useful for any mathematician who would like to learn more about this rapidly developing field; the primary aim is to engage graduate students and young researchers. Prerequisites include knowledge of some noncommutative algebra or homological algebra. Homological algebra has always been considered as one of the main tools in the study of finite-dimensional algebras. The strong relationship with cluster algebras is more recent and has quickly established itself as one of the important highlights of today’s mathematical landscape. This connection has been fruitful to both areas—representation theory provides a categorification of cluster algebras, while the study of cluster algebras provides representation theory with new objects of study. The six mini-courses comprising this text were delivered March 7–18, 2016 at a CIMPA (Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées) research school held at the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, Argentina. This research school was dedicated to the founder of the Argentinian research group in representation theory, M.I. Platzeck. The courses held were: Advanced homological algebra Introduction to the representation theory of algebras Auslander-Reiten theory for algebras of infinite representation type Cluster algebras arising from surfaces Cluster tilted algebras Cluster characters Introduction to K-theory Brauer graph algebras and applications to cluster algebras","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":49738745872657,"sku":"NGR9783319745848","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3319745840.jpg?v=1750933876"},{"product_id":"basic-representation-theory-of-algebras-book-ibrahim-assem-9783030351175","title":"Basic Representation Theory of Algebras","description":"This textbook introduces the representation theory of algebras by focusing on two of its most important aspects: the Auslander–Reiten theory and the study of the radical of a module category. It starts by introducing and describing several characterisations of the radical of a module category, then presents the central concepts of irreducible morphisms and almost split sequences, before providing the definition of the Auslander–Reiten quiver, which encodes much of the information on the module category. It then turns to the study of endomorphism algebras, leading on one hand to the definition of the Auslander algebra and on the other to tilting theory. The book ends with selected properties of representation-finite algebras, which are now the best understood class of algebras.  Intended for graduate students in representation theory, this book is also of interest to any mathematician wanting to learn the fundamentals of this rapidly growing field. A graduate course innon-commutative or homological algebra, which is standard in most universities, is a prerequisite for readers of this book.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":49795084779793,"sku":"NGR9783030351175","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":53522792055057,"sku":"NLS9783030351175","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3030351173.jpg?v=1751433108"},{"product_id":"introduction-to-module-theory-book-flvio-coelho-9780198904915","title":"An Introduction to Module Theory","description":"Module theory is a fundamental area of algebra, taught in most universities at the graduate level. This textbook, written by two experienced teachers and researchers in the area, is based on courses given in their respective universities over the last thirty years. It is an accessible and modern account of module theory, meant as a textbook for graduate or advanced undergraduate students, though it can also be used for self-study. It is aimed at students in algebra, or students who need algebraic tools in their work. Following the recent trends in the area, the general approach stresses from the start the use of categorical and homological techniques. The book includes self-contained introductions to category theory and homological algebra with applications to Module theory, and also contains an introduction to representations of quivers. It includes a very large number of examples of all kinds worked out in detail, mostly of abelian groups, modules over matrix algebras, polynomial algebras, or algebras given by bound quivers. In order to help visualise and analyse examples, it includes many figures. Each section is followed by exercises of all levels of difficulty, both computational and theoretical, with hints provided to some of them.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":50791487242513,"sku":"NGR9780198904915","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51102809227537,"sku":"NIN9780198904915","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0198904916.jpg?v=1750694440"},{"product_id":"elements-of-the-representation-theory-of-associative-algebras-volume-1-book-daniel-simson-9780521586313","title":"Elements of the Representation Theory of Associative Algebras: Volume 1","description":"This first part of a two-volume set offers a modern account of the representation theory of finite dimensional associative algebras over an algebraically closed field. The authors present this topic from the perspective of linear representations of finite-oriented graphs (quivers) and homological algebra. The self-contained treatment constitutes an elementary, up-to-date introduction to the subject using, on the one hand, quiver-theoretical techniques and, on the other, tilting theory and integral quadratic forms. Key features include many illustrative examples, plus a large number of end-of-chapter exercises. The detailed proofs make this work suitable both for courses and seminars, and for self-study. The volume will be of great interest to graduate students beginning research in the representation theory of algebras and to mathematicians from other fields.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50892806029585,"sku":"GOR006891900","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52483034054929,"sku":"NLS9780521586313","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/B007YZX1U0.jpg?v=1751072775"},{"product_id":"introduction-to-module-theory-book-flvio-coelho-9780198904908","title":"An Introduction to Module Theory","description":"Module theory is a fundamental area of algebra, taught in most universities at the graduate level.
