It examines the role of tourism in the economic development of a country and explores the relationship between public and private sector tourism. The operations of each part of the industry - tourist attractions, carriers, accommodation, tour operation, retailing, tourist offices and ancillary services - are described in detail. Critical issues facing the industry are examined, such as the sustainability of ever-increasing global tourism. The problems faced in managing and working in the various sectors of the business are also addressed.  The fifth edition has been updated in line with recent developments within the industry and features new and expanded case studies and improved revision questions and assignments. It also provides a lecturer's guide and OHT masters for adopters of the text.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49596877734161,"sku":"GOR001765490","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50706548556049,"sku":"GOR001546272","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0582328810.jpg?v=1751392591"},{"product_id":"simulating-the-earth-book-j-holloway-9789401164986","title":"Simulating the Earth","description":"This is a book about the why and how of doing experiments on rocks, minerals, magmas, and fluids. It could have as logically been subtitled Experimental petrology as Experimental geochemistry, but we chose geochemistry to emphasize the broad and overlapping nature of current experimental work. We have tried to aim the book at a general readership which we hope will include advanced undergraduate students, graduate students, and anyone else interested in learning something about experimental petrology. Although we hope there will be something of interest for the practicing experimentalist, our aim is at the non-experimentalist interested in learning why experiments are useful, what kind of experiments can be done, and what some of the major problems and limitations are and how they can best be avoided. The result of a journey through this book should be an ability to evaluate published experimental work critically and a knowledge of the kinds of problems an experimentalist might be able to help solve. Some details of experimental technique are included in the Appendix for those readers who want to get their hands dirty.  Indeed, one of our main incentives for writing this book was to try to encourage more petrologists and geochemists to become experimentalists. In our pedagogical approach we have chosen to discuss a small number of case histories as illustrations of principles and techniques. We have tried to select studies we regard as well executed.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52142811873553,"sku":"NLS9789401164986","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9789401164986.jpg?v=1757581499"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/collections\/author-books-by-j-holloway.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
