The first volume ('Foundations') aims to publicise the foundations of group analysis (with the earliest papers of Foulkes) as well as the most influential theoretical contributions by pillars of modern group analysis, such as Pines, Brown, and Hopper. The reader will be able to see the development of Group Analysis, form an opinion about the trajectory that it follows, and judge which way the tradition of openness and creative integration of diverse theoretical contributions will lead in the twenty-first century.The second volume ('Applications') focuses on the numerous fields of work that use group analytic principles. Workers in the field of forensic psychotherapy would now consider it a great omission if they did not use some form of group analytic intervention, as would professionals dealing with those who manifest personality disorders, or those who work with different age groups, such as adolescents. Group analysis has made significant contribution to organisational work, to feminism and anti-discrimination (including anti-racism) as well as in education. The separate school of family therapy was based on group analysis, and in fact the first course of family therapy was based on group analysis and the Institute of Family Therapy was founded by (among others) the founders of IGA. This work is meant to give easy access to the first expressions of cardinal concepts, such as the matrix, the laws of group analysis, and the notion of pseudo-problems and false dichotomies. It is hoped that it will form not only an essential source book but also will indicate the way contemporary practitioners can integrate the new developments - not included in these volumes - from spectrums as diverse as mentalisation and epigenetics.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":50688473104657,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50688473399569,"sku":"GOR007763727","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1782201122.jpg?v=1750802013"},{"product_id":"dynamic-consultations-with-psychiatrists-book-jason-maratos-9781119900504","title":"Dynamic Consultations with Psychiatrists","description":"Unique resource detailing the day-to-day activity of doctors who work on “the coal face” of psychiatry in an acute setting   Dynamic Consultations With Psychiatrists is the outcome of a collaboration between the psychiatrists of a certain hospital and the author, which has continued successfully for more than ten years, containing a number of patient consultations and cases where psychiatry was used successfully to solve a patient’s problem. The presentation of each case, and particularly of the consultation, is meant to demonstrate the process by which insights were gained.   Each consultation is written in plain English with the deliberate avoidance of terminology and especially psychoanalytic jargon. Naturally, all identified features of the patients have been deleted or changed so that the patients’ privacy is not compromised.   The format is near to a transcript so that the work demonstrates how the understanding evolves and emerges from the process. The structure of the book is not according to a diagnosis but according to “presenting problem” (in other words, the most prominent feature), allowing for easy and efficient accessibility.   Sample concepts and learning resources covered and included in Dynamic Consultations With Psychiatrists are as follows:     How a doctor is faced with a patient who is suffering in their own particular way and how the clinician gets to develop a deeper understanding of their predicament Difficulties the “coal face” doctors encounter and the challenges they will face in their personal emotional wellbeing Relationships with the other professionals both within their hospital and other agencies Curtailed histories so that there is a seamless exposition of how the conclusions of the consultation have been reached  Psychiatrists, psychotherapists, and students\/instructors in related programs of study can use Dynamic Consultations With Psychiatrists to gain valuable insight into the thought process of practicing psychiatrists in relation to a myriad of patient problems, allowing them to learn vicariously and become better at dealing with their own patients’ problems.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51295559549201,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51295561384209,"sku":"NIN9781119900504","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52453321769233,"sku":"NLS9781119900504","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1119900506.jpg?v=1750887684"},{"product_id":"resonance-and-reciprocity-book-jason-maratos-9780415380775","title":"Resonance and Reciprocity","description":"This collection traces the innovative connections which Dennis Brown made between medicine and psychoanalysis, and reveal his important insights into how the principles of group analysis can improve our understanding of philosophy and ethics.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52521759080721,"sku":"NLS9780415380775","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":53081606947089,"sku":"NIN9780415380775","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780415380775.jpg?v=1760572480"},{"product_id":"resonance-and-reciprocity-book-jason-maratos-9780415759267","title":"Resonance and Reciprocity","description":"This collection traces the innovative connections which Dennis Brown made between medicine and psychoanalysis, and reveal his important insights into how the principles of group analysis can improve our understanding of philosophy and ethics.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53564257370385,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53564257468689,"sku":"GOR014962610","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780415759267.jpg?v=1778917447"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/collections\/author-books-by-jason-maratos.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
