Then, I saw a high bridge over some railroad tracks and decided I must be near home. I asked to get off. I just wanted to find my house and family after my first day at the new school. As the bus drove away, I realized I was all alone and terrified. I tried not to cry, as a voice in the back of my immature mind whispered for me to be brave. I thought if only I could hold out to walk far enough I would reach home.
