Since the publication of the first edition, ground-breaking approaches to studying the development of morality have re-invigorated debates about what it means to conceptualize and measure morality in early childhood, how children understand fairness and equality, what the evolutionary basis is for morality, and the role of culture. The contributors of this new edition grapple with these questions and provide answers for how morality originates, changes, evolves, and develops during childhood, adolescence, and into adulthood. Thoroughly updated and expanded, the second edition features new chapters that focus on:         infancy      neuroscience      theory of mind       moral personality and identity      cooperation and culture      gender, sexuality, prejudice and discrimination  Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the study of moral development, this edition contains contributions from over 50 scholars in developmental science, cognitive psychology, social neuroscience, comparative psychology and evolution, and education.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50353135354129,"sku":"CIN0415818443VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0415818443.jpg?v=1751260457"},{"product_id":"social-development-in-childhood-and-adolescence-book-melanie-killen-9781405197571","title":"Social Development in Childhood and Adolescence","description":"Edited by two leading scholars, Social Development in Childhood and Adolescence brings together the most significant classic and contemporary writings in this area to provide a comprehensive overview of this dynamic field. * Provides all that is needed for teaching social development with the selection of key topics for a 13-week semester, an introductory chapter with an overview of the field and key questions, introductory text for each of 5 sections that contain 3 articles each for a total of 36 articles, with extra materials including discussion questions and classroom exercises * Covers key topics such as genetics, temperament, attachment, prosocial development, theory of mind, peer relationships, morality, identity, social withdrawal, aggression, exclusion, stereotyping, parenting, and culture. * Addresses issues related to culture, ethnicity, immigration, and diversity * Provides a historical, conceptual, and theoretical overview of social development in the introductory chapter * Includes introductory sections by the editors for each weekly topic which define key terms and highlights important conceptual issues * Integrates helpful pedagogical material throughout: feature boxes highlight current hot topics and real-world applications; end-of-chapter questions, debate topics, and in-class exercises facilitate student understanding and classroom discussion","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50373381325073,"sku":"CIN1405197579G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50625878753553,"sku":"GOR010708984","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1405197579.jpg?v=1776940312"},{"product_id":"children-and-social-exclusion-book-melanie-killen-9781405176514","title":"Children and Social Exclusion","description":"How children weigh fairness and stereotypic expectations when making exclusion decisions is determined by their understanding of group norms, social identity, and friendships with children from other backgrounds.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50467125657873,"sku":"CIN1405176512G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51081125724433,"sku":"NIN9781405176514","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52618830283025,"sku":"NLS9781405176514","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1405176512.jpg?v=1750922049"},{"product_id":"handbook-of-moral-development-book-melanie-killen-9780367497545","title":"Handbook of Moral Development","description":"The Handbook of Moral Development is the definitive source of theory and research on the origins and development of morality in childhood and adolescence. How do children and adolescents evaluate exclusion based on group membership? This monograph is the report of an investigation of social exclusion in the contexts of friendship, peer groups, and school. Guided by social-cognitive domain theory, social psychological, and developmental theories on intergroup relationships, children and adolescents from four different ethnic groups were interviewed. The findings revealed that gender exclusion was more readily condoned than racial exclusion, and that exclusion in the friendship and peer group contexts were judged to be more legitimate than exclusion in the school context. There were also significant differences depending on the gender, age, and ethnicity of the participants. The results support the proposal that exclusion is multifaceted, involving a range of social and moral considerations.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52334701904145,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52334702493969,"sku":"NLS9781405112352","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781405112352.jpg?v=1758157706"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/collections\/author-books-by-melanie-killen.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
