There were challenges along the way, and we learned as much as we could. Trevor graduated from high school right on schedule with a B average. It was a proud, exciting time, but in some ways even more of an unknown than when he was diagnosed with autism in kindergarten. Now that he is in college, I am writing this book to help build awareness that as children with autism become adults, they need to live independently and support themselves with meaningful work, a dream that all parents have for their kids. This book is for individuals with autism either looking for jobs or currently working, and for employers, human resource managers, small business owners, supervisors and co-workers of adults with autism. This book contains 100 short lessons to give both employees and employers guidelines on helping adults with autism find careers that fulfill and support them, and thrive in the workplace while benefiting their employers with their skills and talents.
