But, this depressing situation is not due primarily to a lack of money, but rather to a mass of misperceptions and incorrect assumption made 70 years ago. The first section of the book closely examines these incorrect beliefs that now interfere with a sensible Social Security reformulation. With the goal that all Americans share equally the burdens and benefits of Social Security, the book proposes five general guidelines that most rational people truly interested in seeing change would readily accept: The reformulation must guarantee the system's continued sustainability, provide equity and comprehensive coverage, and be fully predictable and helpful to the economy. Using these five guidelines, Social Security's reformulation calls for the elimination of the cap on wages taxed, provides for differing levels of automatic annual retirement increases, raises the retirement ages, introduces means testing, and allows for the introduction of optional privately controlled savings accounts within the existing system. If the political parties in Congress acts prudently and interest groups abandon their me first approach, the reformulation necessary will not only avert the impending Social Security crisis, it will provide a more equitable, comprehensive, and predictablesystem that helps the economy and aids the nation's effort to pay off its $ 9 trillion Debt.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51140037280017,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51140039770385,"sku":"NIN9781425993849","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52123126333713,"sku":"NLS9781425993849","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1425993842.jpg?v=1751241559"},{"product_id":"trade-secrets-book-robert-l-brielmaier-9781468550061","title":"Trade Secrets","description":"Parents know children can be incorrigible; sometimes a piece of writing is the same. Its tranquil nature is suddenly disrupted by the discovery that one of its teachers, Phillip Rigger, has recently married -- but his union is with a man. The principal's assumes that the disgraced teacher will voluntarily resign but instead soon realizes he is embroiled in a fierce struggle with a determined, implacable opponent determined to retain his position. His increasingly severe steps to rid his school of this moral pariah brings VanderZaan into conflict with the head of the local teacher's association, Danielf VanDorf, who while helping the teacher fight for his job, considers his action depraved and sinful. Compounding the principal's problem with his teacher is a distracting quarrel between the school's sole African-American student and its premier football player. Having provoked a fight he predicts could potentially prove fatal, the student next suggests a novel solution. The principal shrewdly alters the plan in a way that he anticipates will both avoid the fight and end the feud, only to have his proposal backfire. The struggle between teacher and principal, already challenging of conscience for VanDorf, soon expands to engulf the rest of the teaching staff, the students, and the entire community, forcing VanderZaan to take steps that threaten to destroy the school he has molded in his image and the dreams he holds for its and his future.
