Primarily a painter, Lee was widely acclaimed during his lifetime for his virtuosic prints of landscapes, town scenes and historic buildings, executed in a remarkable variety of sizes and media. From the Colosseum in Rome to the summit of Snowdon and the windmills of Kent, he travelled throughout Britain and Europe in search of subjects both epic and picturesque. A leading authority on printmaking and a committed collector of Lees prints, Robert Meyrick here identifies the precise locations of these subjects, and for the first time establishes an accurate chronology of Lees printed oeuvre. In an accompanying essay Meyrick examines the artists reputation, while placing his work in the context of artistic practice in Britain and beyond.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":50510623736081,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50510624227601,"sku":"GOR010734196","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52686919532817,"sku":"NLS9781907533402","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1907533400.jpg?v=1750931584"},{"product_id":"charles-tunnicliffe-book-robert-meyrick-9781910350645","title":"Charles Tunnicliffe","description":"A farmer's son from Cheshire, British artist Charles Frederick Tunnicliffe (1901-79) won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art in 1920. He went on to work in numerous mediums, his favored subject matter being Britain's native birds and other fauna, always depicted punctiliously and yet, unusually for the time, in their natural habitats. Renowned as the illustrator of the 1932 edition of Henry Williamson's Tarka the Otter and numerous Brooke Bond tea cards (popular collector's items in Britain in the postwar period), Tunnicliffe lived on the Welsh island of Anglesey for more than 30 years. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1954. This handsome catalogue raisonne of his prints, over 430 in number, includes lavish illustrations and authoritative annotations by the printmaking authorities Robert Meyrick and Harry Heuser.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50557730947345,"sku":"CIN1910350648G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50771562070289,"sku":"GOR009679073","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51052662751505,"sku":"NIN9781910350645","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1910350648.jpg?v=1767356932"},{"product_id":"stanley-anderson-prints-a-catalogue-raisonne-book-robert-meyrick-9781907533945","title":"Stanley Anderson Prints: A Catalogue Raisonne","description":"Despite living through some of the most dramatic changes of the twentieth century, Stanley Anderson CBE (1884-1966) created a vision of an essentially timeless English rural tradition in his etchings and woodcuts. His training was as an engraver, first on a heraldic engraving apprenticeship with his father and later at the Royal College of Art and Goldsmiths College, London. Anderson became a master of his craft: elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers in 1923. When he later took up woodcutting, he became immersed in a technique that was considered as deeply English as the subjects he depicted. Anderson was a key figure in the revival of engraving in the 1920s. The techniques exacting craftsmanship, intimate scale and indelible sense of historicism were a stark contrast to the modernist explosion. This catalogue raisonne gathers together for the first time the complete uvre of Anderson's prints, from the townscapes of his early career to the fascinating twenty-year study of rural crafts, including hedge-laying, carpentry and barrel-making, that he carried out towards the end of his life, and for which he is best known.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":50655405146385,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50655405342993,"sku":"GOR011160701","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/190753394X.jpg?v=1751028442"},{"product_id":"edgar-holloway-at-80-book-robert-meyrick-9781899095001","title":"Edgar Holloway at 80","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":50800472621329,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50800472949009,"sku":"GOR007788092","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1899095004.jpg?v=1751155645"},{"product_id":"gregynog-prints-book-robert-meyrick-9781899095025","title":"Gregynog Prints","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":50880129335569,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50880129663249,"sku":"GOR010826332","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1899095020.jpg?v=1751347047"},{"product_id":"john-elwyn-book-robert-meyrick-9780754600626","title":"John Elwyn","description":"The author examines the work and career of an artist whose idealized and peaceful vision of the Welsh countryside reflects the quieter strain of Neo-Romanticism in British landscape painting.
