This is equivalent to 36.0 million individuals.  Tim Knox and Daniel Lilley have examined official data to reveal that this 'net dependency ratio' is   the highest on record. This dependency ratio had been falling steadily since 2011, from 52.5 per cent  to 47.5 per cent in 2019\/20, but the long-term trend is clearly upwards: the 2020\/21 figure of 54.2   per cent is significantly above the 1977-2000 average of 41.2 per cent.  This new analysis also reveals 83 per cent of all Income Tax is paid by just 40 per cent of British   adults. More than half (53 per cent) was paid by the top 10 per cent of earners according to this   analysis, three times as much income tax as the bottom 60 per cent - despite this group being six   times bigger.  The top 20 per cent of individuals pay two thirds (66 per cent) of all Income Tax receipts, handing   over, on average, GBP35,000 more in taxes than they receive in public spending. The top fifth of   individuals pay almost half (49 per cent) of all taxes.  At the bottom end of the income scale, the bottom 40 per cent, or 27 million people, receive an   average of GBP23,000 a year in cash benefits and 'benefits in kind'.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49598350786833,"sku":"GOR013059612","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/191258140X.jpg?v=1751315440"},{"product_id":"everything-i-know-about-business-i-learned-from-my-mama-book-tim-knox-9780470127568","title":"Everything I Know About Business I Learned from my Mama","description":"Many people dream of one day starting their own business, but most people have no idea how to do so. There, in houses that embody both his architectural vision and his passion for collecting, Soane exhibited a marvellous array of artefacts, including an outstanding collection of plaster casts, and idiosyncratic items ranging from mummified cats to the sarcophagus of the Egyptian king Seti I. Soane intended the collection to be an 'Academy of Architecture' that would inspire students for generations to come, and today it continues to attract more than 90,000 visitors every year. Written by the present director of the museum and featuring specially commissioned photographs by Derry Moore, this absorbing account of a unique, perpetually surprising cabinet of curiosities offers a fascinating insight into the genius of an exceptional man.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50111469125905,"sku":"GOR004096968","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50977515110673,"sku":"CIN1858944759G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":51610092011793,"sku":"GOR008126350","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52766278058257,"sku":"GOR006197364","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1858944759.jpg?v=1750995314"},{"product_id":"british-ambassador-s-residence-in-paris-book-tim-knox-9782080200785","title":"The British Ambassador's Residence in Paris","description":"This beautifully illustrated book celebrates the British Ambassador's Residence in Paris, one of the most splendid historic homes in the French capital and the most impressive of all British ambassadorial residences abroad. The author, Tim Knox, charts the stirring story of the house, from its origins as the home of the Ducs de Charost, to its opulent heyday under Napoleon's sister, Pauline Bonaparte, Princess Borghese, much of whose luxurious furniture and decoration survives intact. Since 1814, when Pauline sold the house to the 1st Duke of Wellington, the mansion has served as the residence of successive British Ambassadors to France, who altered the house to suit their taste and character, notably Sir Duff Cooper and his beautiful wife, Lady Diana, whose Empire-style study is still redolent of their brilliant social circle in Post-War Paris. This beautiful house in the rue du Faubourg St Honor , furnished with masterpieces of French Empire furniture and decorative arts, English silver, and paintings by British artists, remains a splendid, but hard-working setting for promoting the Franco-British relationship.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":50706920800529,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50706920964369,"sku":"GOR005558724","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/208020078X.jpg?v=1751316575"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/collections\/author-books-by-tim-knox.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
