There are the recent images of familiar faces from both cities: the Catch-22 man Scott stopped coming out of a James Ensor exhibition in New York, and the harbormaster, old sailor, and postmaster of Wick. The current, ink pictures of boxers and other Bronx and Brooklyn neighbors are remarkable for their piercing gaze and clarity of color. Sections on Scott's studies of a few notable men follow, concluding with several very large, powerful works on wood panel that helped start-off his career, and all of which are in the collections of various Scottish museums.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49560128028945,"sku":"GOR013428547","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51109466669329,"sku":"NIN9780692254349","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53123949953297,"sku":"GOR014756211","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/069225434X.jpg?v=1750848223"},{"product_id":"pictures-of-everything-book-victory-hall-press-9780692201923","title":"Pictures of Everything","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51005872439569,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51005875159313,"sku":"NIN9780692201923","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0692201920.jpg?v=1751136572"},{"product_id":"carl-vierow-book-victory-hall-press-9780615484754","title":"Carl Vierow","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51102091510033,"sku":"NIN9780615484754","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0615484751.jpg?v=1750783588"},{"product_id":"maria-pavlovska-book-victory-hall-press-9780692436189","title":"Maria Pavlovska","description":"Drawing, like poetry, can communicate the immeasurable depth of our thoughts, emotion and experience through a language that is often most precise when expressed in its most abstracted form. Maria Pavlovska's drawings engage this language, exploring the full range of her internal life even as her line and brush-stroke explore from the sensitive to the explosive, from freedom to order. These cycles of small drawings are notes to herself, put down on paper over a span of ten years. They have an intimate power; she will often term them 'diaries'. Specific without depiction, they are images that can be read and appreciated over time, something a person wants to keep close and refer to again and again. Just as sonnets or song cycles create strings of poetic imagery, each drawing here adds to the next like a bead on a chain, or a part of a story, a page of a book.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51151658058001,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51151660581137,"sku":"NIN9780692436189","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0692436189.jpg?v=1750700638"},{"product_id":"2015-victory-hall-yearbook-book-victory-hall-press-9780692594469","title":"2015 Victory Hall Yearbook","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51252449181969,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51252451606801,"sku":"NIN9780692594469","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0692594469.jpg?v=1751200218"},{"product_id":"new-drawing-new-jersey-book-victory-hall-press-9780692724774","title":"New Drawing New Jersey","description":"Drawing Rooms is very excited to present our first statewide survey of drawing. An understanding of drawing as vital to one's development and innovation in the visual arts, is at the heart of all we do. In our three years of exhibition programming, we have featured drawing, often exploring its creative relationships to painting, and have found the principles and processes of drawing in three dimensional forms as well. As an art-space on the edge of the Jersey side of the Hudson, we have worked towards fulfilling our potential in making a place of community for New Jersey and New York artists to know each other and exhibit and work together. In presenting these NJ artists here working purely in drawing, we recognize and are proud of their accomplishments and hope to connect them to a wider audience. Artist's themes in the exhibit explore drawing as both a conceptual and expressive process. Pat Brentano's realistic, environmental renderings suggest she is one with nature. Ibou Ndoye's monumental figures draw from both his African and American culture. Harriet Finck builds graphic linear marks into shimmering, iridescent patterns. Joseph Gerard Sabatino produced a chart-like, arcane writing system during a period of self-imposed isolation. Caroline Burton's expansive grid drawings describe a three-dimensional movement in space. Biomorphic, animated beings seem to take shape and emerge from Anne Novado' swirls of graphite. Marsha Goldberg's delicate smoke forms document wars in the Middle East. In the energetic, chaotic works by Alaine Becker, drawn line and black and white masses seem like living beings pushing against their environment. Heejung Kim's web of transcendent pattern and radiant human shapes illuminate an invisible world.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52736594805009,"sku":"NIN9780692724774","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780692724774.jpg?v=1763408262"},{"product_id":"victory-hall-drawing-rooms-the-big-small-show-2014-book-victory-hall-press-9780692347096","title":"Victory Hall Drawing Rooms The Big Small Show 2014","description":"The Big Small Show 2014 represents a sampling of recent, innovative works by ninety artists in the New Jersey\/New York metropolitan area, and it is clearly expressive of the exciting level of energy and interaction that is happening among the artists included here, an indicator of the activity of our larger arts community as well. For all of us who have been developing Victory Hall DRAWING ROMS as an art center since 2012 it also is a celebration, the harvest of our continual efforts to make a place for creative visual artists in Jersey City, believing that when the Arts flourish, the city will also flourish. Curator Anne Trauben has done an amazing job of tirelessly seeking out and gathering paintings, sculpture, drawings, artist-made books, and most importantly people who make art and people who support art from across both rivers and north to Connecticut.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52736597491985,"sku":"NIN9780692347096","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780692347096.jpg?v=1763408276"},{"product_id":"hector-g-romero-book-victory-hall-press-9780615515311","title":"Hector G Romero","description":"If we consider drawing as a visual language, then Hector G.
