LeMay (1906--1990) won't convert those utterly convinced that he was a bomb-happy maniac. The more open-minded, however, will find in it a broader perspective on this controversial officer than we have had elsewhere. His outstanding competence as leader and organizer of strategic airpower in World War II and during the cold war is convincingly presented; so are his limitations in the Pentagon and his poor judgment in being George Wallace's running mate in 1968. Kozak suggests that LeMay was utterly dedicated to the mission of destroying his country's enemies and to the men under his command charged with carrying out that mission. This led to what can only be called a certain lack of the social graces and a good many of what might charitably be called misinterpretations of where LeMay's patriotism led him. A book that definitely belongs in aviation and modern military history collections.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49561370591505,"sku":"GOR006156650","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49757247799569,"sku":"CIN1596985690VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49888061161745,"sku":"CIN1596985690G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1596985690.jpg?v=1751342818"},{"product_id":"lemay-book-warren-kozak-9781596987692","title":"LeMay","description":"Hero or Villain? The old me left with my wife. I’m not sure who this new person is—I am still evolving. But I will tell you this with absolute certainty: I am not the same person I was before my wife died on January 1, 2018.  For anyone struggling with the loss of a spouse—anyone whose world has been turned upside down in a way they’ve never encountered before—here is something that could help. Waving Goodbye is a candid, honest, and approachable guide to dealing with the death of a spouse written by a very ordinary guy who has lived through the ordeal.   Warren Kozak doesn’t just tell you that time heals all wounds; he explains how the passage of time actually helped. Despite the shattering heartbreak and insurmountable grief, Kozak shares what worked, what didn’t, and the insights he learned along the way to help anyone who has suffered this kind of loss.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":53665139556625,"sku":"NIN9798888453384","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9798888453384.jpg?v=1781459760"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/collections\/author-books-by-warren-kozak.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
