It was published by the French educator Allan Kardec on April 18, 1857. It was the first and remains the most important spiritist book, because it addresses in first hand all questions developed subsequently by Allan Kardec. The book is structured as a collection of questions regarding the origin of the spirits, the purpose of the life, the order of the universe, evil and good and the afterlife. Its answers, according to Kardec, were given to him by a group of spirits who identified themselves as The Spirit of Truth, with whom he communicated in several Spiritist sessions during the 1850s. Kardec, who considered himself an organizer rather than an author, grouped the questions and their answers by theme, occasionally including lengthier digressions the spirits had dictated to him on specific subjects, some signed by philosophers such as Augustine of Hippo and Thomas Aquinas and writers including Voltaire. Allan Kardec is the pen name of the French teacher and educator Hippolyte L on Denizard Rivail. He was born in Lyon in 1804. He was raised as a Catholic. He was a disciple and collaborator of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, and a teacher of mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, physiology, comparative anatomy and French in Paris. For one of his research papers, he was inducted in 1831 into the Royal Academy of Arras.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49617923473681,"sku":"CIN1596053135G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50262521708817,"sku":"GOR012383598","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50285377257745,"sku":"GOR005109504","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50412682838289,"sku":"CIN1596053135VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51038317740305,"sku":"NIN9781596053137","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1596053135.jpg?v=1751455537"},{"product_id":"second-coming-of-christ-book-clarence-larkin-9781596052994","title":"The Second Coming of Christ","description":"Have you ever tried to imagine what Christ's return will be like? These pages were excised by royal decree from the authorized 1611 King James version of the Bible. Originally recorded in the ancient Ethiopian language (Ge'ez) by anonymous scribes, The Red Sea Press, Inc. and Kingston Publishers now bring you a complete, accurate modern English translation of this long suppressed account. Here is the most starting and fascinating revelation of hidden truths; not only revealing the present location of the Ark of the Covenant, but also explaining fully many of the puzzling questions on Biblical topics which have remained unanswered up to today. O]nly in the Kebra Nagast, and not in the Bible the bold assertion is made that the Ark had gone from Jerusalem to Ethiopia. H]ow could the most important Biblical object in the world end up in the heart of Africa? The Kebra Nagast with a great deal of weight and historical authenticity offers a clear answer to this question as Ethiopia's claim to be the last resting place of the lost Ark remains unchallenged T]he Kebra Nagast's audacious claim of a massive cover-up and] all information about the tragic loss of the Ark during Solomon's reign had been suppressed, which is why no mention is made of it in the Scriptures. a great epic a remarkable document erected above a solid foundation of historical truth. Upon its release, 'The Alchemy of Happiness' allowed Al Ghazzali to considerably reduce the tensions between the scholars and mystics. It thus offers many insights into traditional Muslim society. 'The Alchemy of Happiness' emphasized the importance of observing the ritual requirements of Islam, the actions that would lead to salvation, and avoidance of sin. Ghazzali finally won acceptance for Sufism in Islam, and his methods of argument and analysis powerfully impressed the scholars of the West, who imitated him extensively. About the Author: Al-Ghazali (c.1056 1111) was one of the most prominent and influential philosophers, theologians, jurists, and mystics of Sunni Islam. He was active at a time when Sunni theology had just passed through its consolidation and entered a period of intense challenges. He is generally acclaimed as the most influential thinker of medieval Islam. In Aids to Reflection, first published in 1825, and Confessions of an Inquiring Spirit, which appeared in 1840, Coleridge ponders: - pain and pleasure, aka sensibility - prudential aphorisms - elements of religious philosophy - original sin - redemption - the divine origin of the Bible - and much more. When Confucius died, it is recorded that his last words were regrets that none among the rulers then living possessed the sagacity requisite to a proper appreciation of his ethical philosophy and teachings. He died unhonored - in his seventy-third year - in 479 B.C., feeling in the flickering beats of his failing heart that his inspiring pleas for truth and justice, industry and self-denial, moderation and public duty, though then without having awakened men's impulses, would yet stir the depths of the social life of his land. The ethical and political precepts of Confucius are not well known in Occidental countries, even to most of those who give special attention to these subjects; and of what is known, much, indeed most, is confused with the notion that Confucius taught a religion in our sense of that term.Yet these ethical teachings, which are almost purely secular, have for more than 2000 years been accepted by a larger number of human beings than those of any other teacher. This, also, notwithstanding that the peoples who so receive Confucian morals as their guide are of the most various views concerning religion, i.e., for instance, are Buddhists, Muhammadans, Taoists, Shintoists, etc. No other ethical system, whether or religious origin, or secular, has ever been acceptable to persons professing religious convictions so diverse.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51677283778833,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51677284008209,"sku":"NIN9781596054172","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1596054174.jpg?v=1751342630"},{"product_id":"god-in-freedom-book-luigi-luzzatti-9781596054486","title":"God in Freedom","description":"To believe and to know, faith and science; only liberty can coordinate these two supreme ideas, destined to diverge, to meet, to contradict each other, ideas which on account of this very divergence, this contradiction and this agreement, underlie the organic evolution of progress and civilization. -from God in Freedom LUIGI LUZATI; ALFONSO ARBIB-COSTA (TRANSLATOR) (1841-1927) was a scholar of tremendous erudition and authority; an expert in economics, law, and politics; a champion of religious freedom in Italy-and a triumphant one: he was the nation's first Jewish prime minister, serving from 1910 to 1911. Just before that groundbreaking civil victory, though, in 1909, he achieved his other great success: the publication of his God in Freedom.
