Nicholson's critical edition is based on the oldest known manuscripts, including the earliest, dated 1278 and preserved in the Mevlana Museum at Konya. It remains the standard text and is provided with diacritical marks to assist the student. The prose translation, similarly, is intended to be an exact and faithful guide to the Persian. The three volumes of English translation can either be bought as a set, or individually; together they comprise a complete translation. Volume 6 comprises a translation of Books V and VI.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50372507697425,"sku":"CIN0906094100G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50659215769873,"sku":"CIN0906094100VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":51505408311569,"sku":"GOR005903113","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/B0092I6DOI.jpg?v=1780568006"},{"product_id":"hudud-al-alam-the-regions-of-the-world-a-persian-geography-372-a-h-982-ad-book-v-v-minorsky-9780906094037","title":"Hudud al-'Alam 'The Regions of the World' - A Persian Geography 372 A.H. He was a Sufi mystic who travelled widely in the Middle East and Transoxiana. The Kashf al-Maḥjūb was probably written in Lahore, where he is buried, not long before his death in about 1074. One of the oldest Sufi works in Persian, it is a substantial treatise aiming to set forth a complete system of Sufism. This is achieved partly by the discussion of acts and saying of the great figures of the past, partly by discussion of features of doctrine and practice and the examination of the different views adopted by different Sufi schools. It is enlivened by episodes from the author’s own experiences.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51009229390097,"sku":"NIN9780906094372","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52658424938769,"sku":"GOR014578314","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0906094372.jpg?v=1768562577"},{"product_id":"turkestan-down-to-the-mongol-invasion-book-w-barthold-9780906094006","title":"Turkestan Down to the Mongol Invasion","description":"Academician Barthold's famous work begins in the late 7th century with the Muslim invasions of what became Russian Central Asia and carries the history of the region through the period of Abbasid centralization, that of the rise of local Muslim dynasties and successive phases of Turkish dominance down to the arrival of Chingiz Khan in the early 13th. Barthold's mastery of the historical and geographical sources and his sound critical judgement were remarkable and 'Turkestan' remains a basic work of reference for the area it covers. The book first appeared in St Petersburg in 1900 in the form of a Russian doctoral theses. The English edition of 1928 was thoroughly revised by the author, and that of 1968 supplemented by the translation of a further chapter found among his papers after his death: 'Turkestan under Mongol Domination (1227-69)'. A 2007 reprint contains an updated map of the region.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51009625096465,"sku":"NIN9780906094006","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0906094003.jpg?v=1768559940"},{"product_id":"document-forms-for-official-orders-of-appointment-in-the-mughal-empire-book-john-f-richards-9780906094143","title":"Document Forms for Official Orders of Appointment in the Mughal Empire","description":"Professor Richard's work is based on part of a manuscript in the  British Library concerned with the revenues and administration of  the later Mughal Empire, and datable to the reign of the Emperor  Bahadur Shah I (AD 1708-1712). The section covered consists of 65  specimen forms for types of documents, the majority orders of  appointment, the remainder concerned with a variety of financial  and other transactions. The appointments envisaged range from  that of Subadar, or Governor of a major province, to those of  minor officials of ports, mints and sub-districts. The work  belongs in the tradition of administrative manuals that may be  traced back to the reign of Akbar and earlier. The specimen  documents, originally intended to guide the aspiring Mughal  scribe in his work, contain a mass of detail of interest to the  modern student of the history of the Mughal India, and that of  the eventual heir to the Mughal tradition, the British Raj. This  is the first work of its type to appear in English translation.  An introduction sets the work in context and the original text is  given in facsimile. John F. Richards is Professor of History at Duke University","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":51318578512145,"sku":"GOR014225871","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":53365847621905,"sku":"CIN0906094143VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0906094143.jpg?v=1781350390"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/collections\/gibb-memorial-trust-persian-studies-book-series.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
