Beginning in the late 1800s, amateur and professional photographers documented the Din  (Navajo) weavers and their artwork, and the images they captured tell the stories of the artists, their homes, and the materials, techniques, and designs they used. Many postcards illustrate popular interest surrounding weaving as an indigenous art form, even as economic, social, and political realities influenced the craft. These historical pictures illuminate perceived traditional weaving practices. The authors' accompanying narratives deepen the perspective and relate imagery to modern life.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50306582184209,"sku":"CIN0788420739VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51007047139601,"sku":"NIN9780788420733","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52487561281809,"sku":"NLS9780788420733","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0788420739.jpg?v=1751233039"},{"product_id":"our-maryland-heritage-book-8-book-william-neal-hurley-jr-9780788408427","title":"Our Maryland Heritage, Book 8","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50361002623249,"sku":"CIN0788408429G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51279107588369,"sku":"NIN9780788408427","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52485810454801,"sku":"NLS9780788408427","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0788408429.jpg?v=1751394767"},{"product_id":"our-maryland-heritage-book-17-book-william-neal-hurley-jr-9780788413773","title":"Our Maryland Heritage, Book 17","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50364537209105,"sku":"CIN0788413775G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52486520930577,"sku":"NLS9780788413773","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":53380910645521,"sku":"NIN9780788413773","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0788413775.jpg?v=1750818101"},{"product_id":"our-maryland-heritage-book-22-book-william-neal-hurley-jr-9780788417016","title":"Our Maryland Heritage, Book 22","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis is the twenty-second book in this series on Maryland families. Data was compiled from census records, will records, family files, church and cemetery records, and published books and records from the Montgomery County Historical Society library. Chapter One provides information from the early years in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Charles, Frederick, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties to establish background lineage and interrelationships. Chapter Two begins with Henry Hawkins and his nine children from two marriages. His first wife was Eleanor Hawkins; his second was Elizabeth Wynn Hawkins. Each subsequent chapter covers his descendants: John Hawkins (1738), Susannah Hawkins (1716), Thomas Hawkins (1817), Benjamin Hawkins (1801) and Mary Ellen Hawkins (1830). The final chapter covers miscellaneous Hawkins family members not connected to the main body of families discussed in earlier chapters. This study began with the goal of providing information about the Ray families generally found in Montgomery County, as listed in the various census returns from 1850 to 1900, and expanded to include information from a number of other sources. The Ray families in Montgomery County appear to be rather clearly divided between those found in the lower southeast section and those found in the upper northwest section of the county. One large group appears to be descended from Joseph Ray, who was born about 1755, and is the subject of Chapter 1, with his descendants discussed there and in chapters 2, 3 and 4. The second large group is descended from William Ray, who died about 1737, and was thus born considerably earlier than the Joseph Ray just mentioned. That William Ray is the subject of Chapter 5 with his descendants discussed there and in Chapter 6. A number of Ray family members have also been found who have not been identified in either of the two lineages included in Chapters 1 thru 6. A fairly large family is descended from William H. Ray, born about 1818, and they are discussed in Chapter 7. Finally, Chapter 8 contains a large group of individual bits of information, not placed in any of the other lineages. Numerous other surnames emerge, including Birckhead, Blundon, Brown, Burdette, Burriss, Davis, deVries, Dumbroski, Dunn, Duvall, Earp, Gloyd, Greenfield, Havener, Johnson, Kelly, King, Lowe, O'Donnell, Oland, Parlsey, Pearson, Perry, Pope, Ricketts, Schneider, Selby, Sullivan, Thompson, Ward, and many others.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51202703425809,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51202704212241,"sku":"NIN9780788421372","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52332491571473,"sku":"NLS9780788421372","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0788421379.jpg?v=1751233040"},{"product_id":"our-maryland-heritage-book-29-book-w-n-hurley-9780788419133","title":"Our Maryland Heritage, Book 29","description":"The Selby name is an ancient one, begins book twenty-nine by William Hurley, the prolific author and researcher who once again explores the origins of another Maryland family. After a brief review of early English connections he begins his familiar trek through the resources of the Montgomery County Historical Society and others to locate the familial threads that connect living Selbys to early immigrants and settlers. Beginning with William Selby, an indentured servant seeking his fortune in the New World, who appears to be the ancestor of the Selby families found today in Montgomery and Frederick Counties, Mr. Hurley follows four generations of descendants, through William Selby Jr., Thomas Selby, Richard Thomas Selby and Allen Selby. The remaining chapters are devoted to reporting information found in records in Montgomery and other counties relative to Selby family members who have not been previously discussed. Numerous surnames emerge within this research including: Sollers, Hucker, Magruder, Bowie, Clagett, Pickett, Duvall, Offutt, Ricketts, and Grimes. Thanks to the author's diligence and expertise, family researchers have immediate access to information about various Selbys and connected families that would otherwise take days or months to accumulate. In this two-for-one reprint, Dr. Tolzmann has combined related books originally published by the Department of Historical Research of the Carnegie Institution of Washington. The original works are Marion Dexter Learned's Guide to the Manuscript Materials Relating to American History in the German State Archives (1912) and Albert B. Faust's Guide to the Materials for American History in Swiss and Austrian Archives (1916). According to Dr. Tolzmann's introduction, these octogenarian books are still of value because of their specific focus on the German-Americana materials within the archives. Genealogists may discover many new avenues of research through the cited sources that deal with emigration from the German-speaking lands to settlements in the U.S. This publication also stands out among guides to German archives for covering Austria and Switzerland as well as Germany. The extensive name and subject indices from each of the original books are included in this reprint. These indices will guide the researcher through the plethora of mostly 18th and 19th century citations of political papers, passenger lists, personal diaries, diplomatic letters and other materials. These materials are arranged in descending order from cantonal to municipal institutions, so items may also be looked up by region using the table of contents.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52593276059921,"sku":"NLS9780788406744","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":53380909433105,"sku":"NIN9780788406744","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780788406744.jpg?v=1761067508"},{"product_id":"tales-of-china-book-janice-kuharski-9780789122469","title":"Tales of China","description":"Includes The First Country Wolf, The Rainmakers, The Cricket, The Girl in Green, The Hardwork Mountains, and The Divided Daughter.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53622988603665,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":53622988767505,"sku":"CIN0789122464VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780789122469.jpg?v=1780621243"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/collections\/our-maryland-heritage-book-series.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
