The first chapter, dealing with radical cascade processes illustrates the power and the beauty of radical chemistry with some striking examples of total synthesis of complex natural heterocycles. As organic chemists strive towards sustainability, radical chemistry has recently seen major advances and efforts in this direction, including C-H activation of arenes and unactivated alkyl groups. Photochemical activation, for a long time the preferred mode of activation in radical chemistry has also seen an unexpected revival with the advent of visible light metal- and organocatalyzed photoredox processes. A survey of these emerging areas is provided along with the concepts at the origin of these developments. The venerable Minisci reaction allows for direct access to functionalized heterocycles. This process has lately seen an interesting renaissance and is discussed in this volume. Addition of heteroatom-centered radicals onto unsaturated systems constitutes another powerful method to construct heterocycles. Examples of such a strategy are proposed along with the formation of various heterocycles relying on homolytic substitution at sulfur, phosphorus and selenium. Additionally free-radical functionalization of reactive functional groups including isonitriles, isothiocyanates and related unsaturated systems which offer a straightforward route towards useful aromatic and non-aromatic heterocycles are discussed. Finally, as metals are able to trigger single electron transfer both in reductive and oxidative modes this provides another possibility for the synthesis of heterocycles. Significant research efforts have focused on the use of samarium, copper and other metals to access a broad variety of heterocycles in a single pot process, starting from readily available raw material. Examples and mechanistic insights are discussed by experts in thisarea.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52125180002577,"sku":"NLS9783319895208","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783319895208.jpg?v=1757462971"},{"product_id":"bioactive-heterocyles-i-book-shoji-eguchi-9783540333500","title":"Bioactive Heterocyles I","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52127127437585,"sku":"NLS9783540333500","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783540333500.jpg?v=1757483194"},{"product_id":"heterocyclic-antitumor-antibiotics-book-moses-lee-9783540309826","title":"Heterocyclic Antitumor Antibiotics","description":"The series Topics in Heterocyclic Chemistry will present critical reviews on Heterocyclic Compounds within topic related volumes dealing with all aspects such as synthesis, reaction mechanisms, structure complexity, properties, reactivity, stability, fundamental and theoretical studies, biology, biomedical studies, pharmacological aspects, applications in material sciences etc. Metabolism will be also included which will provide information useful in designing pharmacologically active agents. The chapters contributed deal with methodological peculiarities of syntheses of natural and artificial sugar derived spirocycles as well as their biological applications and other utilities including marketed drugs. Carbohydrates are ubiquitous molecules in nature and participate in a vast number of biological interactions. Especially their conjugates with practically all kinds of primary and secondary metabolic small molecules (and also biomacromolecules) representing valuable tools for glycobiology research and also lead compounds for drug discovery. While monosaccharides per se appear as heterocycles, their natural conjugates frequently exhibit spiro(hetero)cyclic derivatives, in many cases of high therapeutical relevance. As a consequence, the field of carbohydrate-spiro-heterocycles attracts intense interest from both chemical and biomedical aspects therefore this volume will be of interest for synthetic and medicinal chemists and (glyco)biologists, as well as researchers involved in various biomedical fields.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52136141914385,"sku":"NLS9783030319441","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783030319441.jpg?v=1757552870"},{"product_id":"phosphorus-heterocycles-ii-book-raj-k-bansal-9783642438967","title":"Phosphorus Heterocycles II","description":"Contents: S. Carbohydrates are widely distributed in nature and constitute the largest part of renewable biomasses. Moreover, many carbohydrates and their derivatives are comm- cially available at relatively cheap prices. Consequently their utilization is highly encouraged and economically they are of great signi?cance. Moreover, carbohydrates are highly functionalized compounds that can be readily deri- tized and\/or cyclized to provide heterocyclic compounds. This book provides a modern account and an up-to-date description of the advancement in the synthesis of diverse heterocycles from carbohydrates. Carbohydrates can be considered as a source of chiral centers in addition to the variable modi?cation thereof. Herein the elaboration of the carbohydrate molecules for providing different heterocycles is the main objective and team efforts from leaders of the topics has been gathered in this volume. This book is designed to be suitable for students and researchers. It is highly recommended as a reference book and for teaching the fascinating topics related to carbohydrates, heterocycles and organic synthesis. In addition to its importance in academia, it is also an excellent source for information about the variety of methods used in the synthesis of heterocycles important to industry.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52332887572753,"sku":"NLS9783642092053","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783642092053.jpg?v=1758153001"},{"product_id":"marine-natural-products-book-hiromasa-kiyota-9783540337287","title":"Marine Natural Products","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis book is a compilation of the latest achievements of leading researchers in marine natural products with extremely diverse structures and biological activities. As a consequence, the field of carbohydrate-spiro-heterocycles attracts intense interest from both chemical and biomedical aspects therefore this volume will be of interest for synthetic and medicinal chemists and (glyco)biologists, as well as researchers involved in various biomedical fields.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52351739724049,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52351740248337,"sku":"NLS9783030319410","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783030319410.jpg?v=1758181282"},{"product_id":"chemistry-of-1-2-3-triazoles-book-wim-dehaen-9783319079615","title":"Chemistry of 1,2,3-triazoles","description":"The series Topics in Heterocyclic Chemistry presents critical reviews on present and future trends in the research of heterocyclic compounds. Volume I of \"Synthesis of Heterocycles via Cycloadditions\" featured ?ve chapters onthe followingtopics: - Isoxazolines fromNitroCompounds: Synthesis and Applications; - Cycloaddition Reactions of Azides Including Bioconjugation; - Enantioselective Cycloadditions ofAzomethine Ylides; - Heterocyclesby Cycloadditions of CarbonylYlides Generated fromDiazo Ketones; - HeterocyclesfromUnsaturated Phosphorus Ylides. In this volume we present four selected contributions by well-known authors, each an authority in his ?eld. The ?rst chapter is devoted to the use of oximes in cycloadditions which leads to formationof isoxazolines and isoxazolidines and from there to synthesis of macrolides like amphotericin and of other natural products and bioactive molecules. Furthermore, 4+2 cycloadditions of nitrosoalkenes are also included. This chapter complements the one in the X Preface previous volume which discussed access to isoxazolines via nitroalkanes.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52455284736273,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52455285326097,"sku":"NLS9783642097102","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783642097102.jpg?v=1759373800"},{"product_id":"synthesis-of-heterocycles-via-cycloadditions-i-book-alfred-hassner-9783642097089","title":"Synthesis of Heterocycles via Cycloadditions I","description":"Heterocyclicmoleculesplayasigni?cantroleinlifeprocessesandhaveplayed a major rolein industrial developments of the last century, for instance in the ?eld of dyes, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, polymers etc. They comprise not onlysomeofthemostinterestingandbiologicallyimportantnaturalproducts like alkaloids, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, and antibiotics but include many practical drugs and a large segment of known synthetic organic compounds. The sixth article deals with synthetic approaches to different types of 1- heterophosphacyclanes, including four-, five-, and six-membered P-heterocycles. The next two articles cover the chemistry of phosphorus containing mac- cycles. The phosphorus containing calixarenes have attracted much attention in recent years due to their various functions such as metal cations binding, catalysis, molecular recogination, and bioactivity. Likewise, other phosphorus-containing macrocycles, cryptands, and dendrimers find various uses in analytical chemistry and biochemistry. We hope to include the following articles in the second volume on phosphorous heterocycles: Diazaphospholes Selected phosphorous heterocycles containing a stereogenic phosphorus Heterophenes carrying phosphorus functional groups as key structures The synthesis and chemistry of the phospholane ring system Synthesis and bioactivity of 2,5-dihydro-1,2-oxaphosphole-2-oxide derivatives Recent developments in the chemistry of N-heterocyclic phosphines. I would be failing in my duty if I do not express my sincere thanks to the people at Springer, particularly Ms. Birgit Kollmar-Thoni and Ms. Ingrid Samide, for coordinating the project with great dedication.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52455589576977,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52455590101265,"sku":"NLS9783642101441","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783642101441.jpg?v=1759374750"},{"product_id":"thiophenes-book-john-a-joule-9783319352145","title":"Thiophenes","description":"The series Topics in Heterocyclic Chemistry presents critical reviews on present and future trends in the research of heterocyclic compounds.
