75 Classical Myths Condensed from Their Primary Sources by David Mulroy
When you ask students what they take away from classical mythology courses, their answers are often the same: the stories. Interpretations of the subject matter come and go, but the stories tend to stick. 75 Classical Myths Condensed from their Primary Sources is designed to familiarize students with these stories in the most economical and accessible way possible.
The only text book that I have ever read cover to cover" —Anonymous Student, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
David Mulroy is a professor of classics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he has taught since 1973. He has regularly taught classical mythology to large lecture classes there. 75 Classical Myths is the product of this experience. His other publications include books of translations of ancient Greek and Roman poetry: Early Greek Lyric Poetry (Michigan 1992), The Complete Poetry of Catullus (Wisconsin 2003), and Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex (Wisconsin 2011). Outside of the world of Classics, he best known for his 2002 publication, The War Against Grammar, (Heinemann Boynton/Cook), a critical look at the neglect of grammar in contemporary education.
