Jef Mallett created a daily comic for the Pioneer in Big Rapids, Michigan, while still in high school. He eventually worked for a chain of eight midsize dailies as a cartoonist, art director, and editorial cartoonist. He is the author and artist of the children's book Dangerous Dan, as well as an illustrator for other authors, including best-selling author Mitch Albom.
