Vera Brosgol was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1984, and emigrated to America when she was five years old. First Second published her graphic novels Anya's Ghost and Be Prepared, as well as her debut picture book Leave Me Alone! Storyboards for the animated features Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls were created by her. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her dog Omar, who is more than capable of taking on the Little Guys.
