Bedford Handbook for Writers by Susan Dzugan

Born in 1925. Prep school, The Old Ride, followed by Malvern College. Volunteered in 1943 and was sent on an Army Engineering Short Course at Cambridge (6 months), then OCTU for Sappers at Newark. Commissioned 1945, posted to India and joined the Bengal Sappers and Miners and rose to Capt. R.I.E. Returned in 1948 to join my father farming at Upavon. Served on Wiltshire County Council 1960 - 1964, Upavon Parish Council for many years. J.P. for 25 years (Chairman for 15), Agricultural Advisory Committee for two years as well as serving on the N.F.U. and C.L.A. at County level. Changed Rushall Farm (1650 acres) to an organic system, completing the conversion in 1985.
