The Black Ancient Egyptians by Muata Ashby
This present volume, The Black Ancient Egyptians: The Black African Ancestry of the Ancient Egyptians, formed one subject in the larger work: The African Origins of Civilization, Religion, Yoga Mysticism and Ethics Philosophy. It was felt that this subject needed to be discussed because even in the early 21st century, the idea persists that the Ancient Egyptians were peoples originally from Asia Minor who came into North-East Africa. Yet there is ample evidence from ancient writings and perhaps more importantly, iconographical evidences from the Ancient Egyptians themselves that proves otherwise. This handy volume has been designed to be accessible to young adults and all others who would like to have an easy reference with documentation on this important subject. This is an important subject because the frame of reference with which we look at a culture depends strongly on our conceptions about its origins. in this case, if we look at the Ancient Egyptians as Asiatic peoples we would treat them and their culture in one way. If we see them as Africans we not only see them in a different light but we also must ascribe Africa with a glorious legacy that matches any other culture in human history. We would also look at the culture and philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians as having African insights instead of Asiatic ones. Those insights inform our knowledge bout other African traditions and we can also begin to understand in a deeper way the effect of Ancient Egyptian culture on African culture and also on the Asiatic as well.Dr. Muata Ashby began his studies in religion and philosophy, earning a PhD in these fields, while also beginning to compile his findings into what would eventually become multiple works on African history, religion and ethics, world mythology, the beginnings of Yoga philosophy and practice in ancient Africa (Ancient Egypt/Nubia), and the origins of Chrismatism. This was the impetus for the successful Egyptian Yoga book series, which began in 1994. He is an accomplished lecturer, singer, artist, poet, painter, screenwriter, playwright, and author of over 65 books on yoga philosophy, religious philosophy, and social philosophy based on ancient African ideas, having studied mystical religious traditions from all over the world. He has talked and written extensively on the linkages of these with ancient African religion and philosophy. He is a key promoter of the concept of advanced social and religious philosophy in ancient Africa akin to Eastern traditions such as Vedanta, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism. Muata Abhaya Ashby earned a doctorate in divinity from the American Institute of Holistic Theology and a master's degree in liberal arts and religious studies from Thomas Edison State College.
He has studied Ancient Egyptian philosophy and social order, as well as Maat philosophy, the ethical foundation of Ancient Egyptian society, in depth. Dr. Ashby has studied and practiced Egyptian Yoga, Indian Yoga, Chinese Yoga, Buddhism, mystical psychology, and Christian Mysticism as an independent scholar and practitioner. At the Yoga Research Foundation, Dr. Ashby has been conducting postgraduate study in advanced Jnana, Bhakti, and Kundalini Yogas. He has been researching Ancient Egyptian musical theory and creating a series of musical works that explore this unique area of ancient African music and its connection to world music since 1999.
Dr. Ashby has given talks in the United States, Europe, and Africa. He has been researching the world economy for the previous 300 years, with a concentration on the United States of America and western civilization in general, in recent years. He is also a Yoga Philosophy and Discipline Instructor. Dr. Ashby is an adjunct lecturer at the American Institute of Holistic Theology and previously worked at Florida International University as an adjunct professor.
Dr. Ashby has ushered in a new phase of teaching distribution, adding a new dynamic to the books as well as the live lectures offered over the internet, with the reorganization of Kemet University and the establishment of the Egyptian Mystery School, as well as a personalized learning system using Ancient Egyptian Temple teaching elements and current technologies. He is currently working on projects linked to the temples of Aset and Asar, doing comprehensive photography and giving new original translations of the relevant hieroglyphic scriptures, as well as teaching them through the Kemet University Egyptian Mystery School online and in person seminars and conferences.
