Zusammenfassung

David Batty has been one of the most consistent midfielders in the English game. Here, he is unsurprisingly straight-talking and honest; but his story offers humour and great tales, such as how he once took some of the Leeds players to work on the bins during the off-season.

David Batty by David Batty

David Batty has been one of the most consistent midfielders in the English game since the 1980s. In this revealing and outspoken autobiography, he talks about his difficult relationship with Howard Wilkinson, his battle to save his career after serious injury, his notorious onfield punch-up with team-mate Graeme Le Saux, and how he once took some of the Leeds players to work on the bins during the off-season. Here, David Batty, the son of a Leeds dustbinman, is unsurprisingly straight-talking and honest; but his story offers humour and great tales.
David Batty made his league debut for Leeds United in 1987 at the age of 18, and went on to play 211 games for the club, winning the league championship in 1992, before moving on to Blackburn Rovers in 1993. He helped Blackburn to the title in 1995 and then went to Newcastle United in 1996. In 1998 he moved back to Leeds. He has won 42 England caps since 1991.
