The Dream Book by Bia Melo

AS FEATURED IN THE TIMES' BEST CHILDREN'S BOOKS OF THE SUMMER! SHORTLISTED FOR THE KLAUS FLUGGE PRIZE 2024. A fun, wacky dreamworld adventure that makes for the perfect bedtime story from debut talent, author-illustrator Bia Melo! Nina is not like the other children. She doesn't want to stay up late like the grown-ups do. In fact, she can't WAIT to go to sleep . . . because that's when dreams happen. She goes on amazing adventures to the jungle, explores cake villages and visits a city on wheels. When she wakes up she MUST tell everyone . . . but something strange is happening. Her dreams wiggle and twist, shrink and grow until they're nothing like her dream at all. And then one night, her dream isn't fun or exciting . . . but quite scary instead. Join the determined heroine as she captures her dreams once and for all! With its bright, bold illustrations, this bedtime book dives into early experiences of good and bad dreams. It explores dream journalling for the very young, making this the perfect book to share with little ones as they settle to sleep. The ideal companion for readers of You Choose Your Dreams, What Will You Dream Tonight?, Peace at Last and No Sleep for Bear. I absolutely love this bookIt's a wonderful and unique journey into childhood dreams and journalling. This book opens up a child's creativity, curiosity and imagination with beautiful illustrations that capture the excitement of dreams as well as exploring the fear that scary dreams can bring. This is a must-have for all bedtime adventurers and big dreamers! * Lizzie Noble, holistic sleep coach and early years practitioner *
Nina loves her exciting and adventurous and even scary dreams so much that she wants to write them down. An amazing dream journal is born in this boldly illustrated picture book that will spark imaginative play and writing ideas in EYFS classes. A uniquely inspirational book. -- Tom Tolkien * School Reading List *

An encouragement to preserve your dreams, good and bad, by drawing what you remember as soon as you wake. It captures Nina's dream, from jungles to magic lands, in a riot of crayon illustrations - and might buy parents a few moments of lie-in. -- Nicolette Jones * The Sunday Times, 'Best Children's Books for the Summer 2023' *
There is buckets of creativity in this picture book. . . I think this is a fresh approach especially for young children to tackle tough themes from a young age. -- Dominic * Waterstones *
Layered whimsical illustrations in crayon add a dreamlike quality and heighten the sense that we are peeking into Nina's own journal. A dreamy story to send you off into a sweet slumber. * Children's Books Ireland *
a fantastic book to share with young readers and could inspire them to create their own dream books. It could also inspire conversation about dreams and help children talk about the bad dreams they may have. There is a handy guide for parents at the end of the book with tips for talking about dreams, making links to their emotions and ideas to support a good bedtime. -- Sam Keeley * Just Imagine *
