Gender by Myra Ferree

An instant best-seller and now the leading book for the course, Wade and Ferree’s Gender is an accessible and inclusive introduction to sociological perspectives on gender. Drawing on memorable examples mined from history, pop culture, and current events, Gender deftly moves between theoretical concepts and applications to everyday life. Revised throughout to be more inclusive and intersectional, the Third Edition features expanded coverage of the nonbinary and trans experience and new discussions of the impact of Covid-19 on families and work.
Lisa Wade is a professor at Tulane University with appointments in Sociology, the Gender and Sexuality Studies Program, and the Newcomb Institute. An accomplished scholar, award-winning teacher, and public sociologist, she is well known for delivering conversational yet compelling translations of sociological theory and research. Cook Professor of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is the author of Varieties of Feminism: German Gender Politics in Global Perspective (2012), co-author of Shaping Abortion Discourse (2002) and Controversy and Coalition (2000), and co-editor of Gender, Violence, and Human Security (2013), Global Feminism (2006), and Revisioning Gender (1998), as well as numerous articles and book chapters.
