When this motley bunch befriends a lottery winner with a generous heart, they all embark on a hysterical and heartwarming journey in search of the healer who just might be able to cure Luke, and perhaps give them the answers they didn't know they were looking for.

Scarlett Thomas was born in London in 1972. She is the author of the novels BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS, GOING OUT, POPCO, and THE END OF MR. Y. Scarlett writes regularly for the Independent on Sunday and Scotland on Sunday, and has also contributed stories and articles to Butterfly Magazine, Black Book, Zembla, The Scotsman, The Guardian and BBC Radio 4. Her short stories have appeared in anthologies including 'All Hail the New Puritans' and 'Big Night Out'. In 2001 she was included in the Independent on Sunday's list of the UK's 20 best young writers, and in 2002 she won an Elle Style Award for the novel GOING OUT. She currently lives in Kent and is working on a new novel, a film script and a PhD. She enjoys cricket, playing the guitar, recreational mathematics, malfunctioning 60s architecture and artistic manifestoes of any sort.
