Tom Hanks has won two Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Cinema, the Kennedy Center Honors, the 2016 Presidential Medal of Merit, and the French Legion of Honor for his support of World War II veterans are just a few of his other honors. Saving Private Ryan, as well as his work writing, directing, and producing the miniseries Band of Brothers, inspired and increased his admiration for military duty. He's honored to be inducted into the United States Army Rangers Hall of Fame as an honorary member.
