Danny Walsh was born in Lincolnshire and trained as a psychiatric nurse in Yorkshire. An interest in elderly care and groupwork arose as a response to the paucity of resources for this client group and also due to the wisdom and humanity that such groups have shared with him. He is now a lecturer in mental health nursing for Nottingham University. He is married and has two sons.
