Carol Deacon began cake decorating when a friend asked her to make a birthday cake and the combination of cake and creativeness appealed to her. She entered a few icing competitions and won a car and a gold medal for her amazing creations. Carol decided to leave advertising to work at Jane Asher's cake shop in Chelsea London for a year. Carol then went freelance and as well as making celebration and wedding cakes has written for cake and food magazines--these include Cake Craft and Decoration and BBC Good Food. She is the author of Fabulous Party Cakes and Cupcakes. Carol lives in Hertfordshire, England with her husband, three children, a very sticky kitchen, and a whole bunch of ideas for her next book.
