Human Rights: Politics and Practice provides a comprehensive introduction to human rights that takes students beyond a purely legal perspective to look at theoretical issues and practical approaches. Michael Goodhart is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the author of Democracy as Human Rights: Freedom and Equality in the Age of Globalization (2005, New York: Routledge), co-editor of Human Rights in the 21st Century: Continuity and Change since 9/11 (Palgrave, 2011), and author of numerous articles and book chapters. His current research focuses on problems of democracy in an era of globalization; problems in contemporary human rights theory and practice; and global injustice and the democratization of global economic governance.
