Inner Leadership by Simon Smith

This text moves away from the need for a hero leader to make decisions and instead sets out to turn each of us into leaders. It introduces the REAL model - a four stage process which allows readers to realize their leading potential: recognizing your strengths, limitations and qualities; exploring the parts of your personality, purpose and values which influence your decisions, thoughts and actions; actualizing your qualities for achieving your leadership goals; and leading others to push the boundaries and think for themselves.
Simon Smith spent twenty years in the financial and investment sector as an investment analyst and venture capitalist. Much of his work was concerned with privatizations and the management of enormous cultural and personal change. Intrigued as to why some privatizations were hugely successful while others failed, he undertook a 4-year psychology training course to increase his understanding of himself and others. He now works as a change consultant and counsellor with Creative Learning Consultants and numbers among his clients multinational public and private companies in the UK and Europe, as well as individuals who want to increase their effectiveness. He is also the founder of Mentoring Ltd through which he promotes the Inner Leadership programme.
