Jason Matthews was a member of the Operations Directorate of the Central Intelligence Agency. He served in several overseas locations, spoke six foreign languages, and engaged in covert national security intelligence collection, specialized in denied-area operations, over the course of his thirty-three-year tenure. Matthews carried out recruitment operations in Soviet-Eastern Europe, East Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. He worked with foreign partners in counterproliferation and counterterrorism activities as Chief of several CIA Stations. Red Sparrow, his first novel, was nominated for an Edgar Award for Best First Novel and adapted into a blockbuster motion picture starring Jennifer Lawrence.
