Jo Waldman lives to her own soundtrack -- working by day while pursuing her music career in NYC's downtown clubs at night. The more I think about this story and contemplate it, the more I realized just how much it even inspired me. Taking your pain and turning it into something positive is very empowering and a great message. --Novel Escapes I will definitely have to go and discover more of Janowitz's writing, she has that easy, enjoyable writing style I love and I adored the music refrences, and song titles for the chapter names, it was a fantastic read. --Girls Love To Read From the opening line, I was hooked. I liked how the story was delivered, and how imperfect (Jo) was. There are so many other things I could mention that added up to The Lonely Hearts Club being an interesting and relatable reading experience but then I don't want to spoil it for you. A native New Yorker, Brenda Janowitz has had a flair for all things dramatic since she played the title role in her third grade production of Really Rosie. When asked by her grandmother if the experience made her want to be an actress when she grew up, Brenda responded, "An actress? No. A writer, maybe."
