Longevity by Laurel Blossom

Longevity is a book-length narrative, a fictional prose poem told in fragments about the protagonist's relationships with the women in her life and the deaths of those women: her mother, her best friend, her sister. Longevity is told in reverse, starting with the present and working back to the birth of the younger sister, which was the beginning, for the speaker, of both memory and loss.
Blossom, Laurel: - LAUREL BLOSSOM is the author of two book-length narrative prose poems, Degrees of Latitude and Longevity, both from Four Way Books. Previous books of lyric poetry include Wednesday: New and Selected Poems, The Papers Said, What's Wrong, and a previous chapbook, Any Minute. Her work has appeared in a number of anthologies and in many national, international, and online journals. Her poetry has been nominated for both the Pushcart Prize and the Elliston Prize. She has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ohio Arts Council, the New York State Council on the Arts, and Harris Manchester College, Oxford University. Blossom is the editor of Splash! Great Writing About Swimming. She served as the first ever Poet Laureate of Edgefield, South Carolina (2015-17). She currently lives in Los Angeles.
