She has long been regarded as a key figure in the Human Potential Movement. Dr Houston co-founded The Foundation for Mind Research in 1965 with her husband, Dr. Robert Masters. She is also the founder and chief teacher of the Mystery School, a human development school that teaches history, philosophy, the New Physics, psychology, anthropology, myth, and the many dimensions of human potential through a cross-cultural mythic and spiritual studies program. This school has been running for 24 years and is held on both the East and West Coasts.
Leaders from all over the world come to learn with Dr. Houston and her illustrious associates in an intense program in Social Artistry. She founded the International Institute for Social Artistry and serves as its Program Director. She has taught philosophy, psychology, and religion at Columbia University, Hunter College, the New School for Social Research, and Marymount College, as well as summer sessions in human development at the University of California at Santa Cruz and the University of British Columbia. She is a previous President of the Association of Humanistic Psychology. A Passion for the Possibility, Search for the Beloved, Life Force, The Possible Human, Public Like a Frog, A Mythic Life: Learning to Live Our Larger Story, and Handbook For A Peacemaker are among her 25 works.
Her PBS special, A Passion for the Possibility, has received a lot of attention and praise. Her book of the same name, based on the program, was released in August 1997 by Harper San Francisco. Dr. Houston also worked as an advisor to President and Mrs. Obama for two years. Clinton, in addition to assisting Mrs.
It Takes A Community To Raise A Child, wrote Clinton. She worked closely with Mrs. as a high school student. Roosevelt is working on establishing techniques to help young people become more aware of international issues and the activities of the United Nations. She's also collaborated with President and Mrs. Bush.
Carter advised and mentored leaders in a variety of countries and cultures. She has a B.A. in English. Ph.D. from Barnard College with a master's degree in psychology from Union Graduate School and a doctorate in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
The Graduate Theological Foundation awarded him a master's degree in religion. Honorary doctorates have also been bestowed upon her.
