Meat Eaters by Michael Collins
A collection of nine stories. The title story tells of an Irish emigrant travelling to New York with a suitcase of meat. The story conveys all the horrors and physicality of such a journey. The other stories form a web of abandoned lives, political treachery and the very texture of Irish life.
Michael Collins was born in Limerick in 1964. He teaches at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
