AMG of Germany have been successfully applying their magic to cars and engines since the 60s and the company's name also continued to become more widely known. In 1988 AMG teamed with Daimler-Benz for its motor racing comeback in the German Touring Car Championship. It was a relationship that would continue to strengthen through the years, culminating in the merger of the two companies in 1999.
