Mining in Cornwall Vol 6 by L J Bullen
The interface of metalliferous mining with the China Clay Industry is addressed in some detail in the first chapter. It will be noticed that the decline of metal mining in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries is marked by the movement of steam engines to the ever-expanding clay area centred on St Austell.
L. J. Bullen, acknowledged as Cornwall's leading mining historian, has been involved in the industry for many years and in many different guises. A retired surveyor, he is also a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, and is a former president and honorary life member of the Cornish Institute of Engineers, as well as many other societies and institutes. He has previously publishing Volumes 1 to 7 of the successful Mining in Cornwall series with The History Press and is also part founder and owner of the Trounsen-Bullen Collection, a comprehensive archive of the Cornish mining industry. He lives in Camborne, Cornwall.
