Moses and Judaism by Maura Brickell

Moses was the most important leader in the history of the Jewish people. Thousands of years ago, he rescued them from slavery in Egypt and took them to their 'promised land'. On the way he brought them laws from God, and shaped the religion that is now known as Judaism. This book tells you about the life of Moses, who he was and what he did. It explains how Moses affected the Jews, what he taught them and about the sacred books that tell of his life and teaching. Four stories of key moments in Moses' life are also retold; his birth, the burning bush, the parting of the Red Sea and receiving the Ten Commandments. There is also information on Jewish sacred places, days and festivals, and how Moses' influence on Judaism has lasted to the present day.
Sharon Barron is Principal Curriculum Resource Officer for East Dunbartonshire. She is a librarian who runs INSET courses for teachers. Sharon regularly goes into schools to talk about Judaism with the children.
