Parallel Classic Commentary on the New Testament by Mark Water

Volume 2 follows the same format as volume I, with commentary by John Calvin, widely acknowledged as the greatest Bible commentator of all time, and nine other classic Bible commentators. Few have written comprehensively on all the New Testament books, so this volume selects the very best from those available on individual Bible books. Spread as before over four columns, this is an indispensable for the Bible student. All the commentators are well-known for their conservative, evangelical theological position and their incisive and profound thinking. A comprehensive selection of John Calvin's works are provided for the whole of the New Testament, except the few books he didn't cover, 2 John, 3 John and Revelation. These books are commented on by A. R. Fausset. In addition to A. R. Fausset there is a selection of commentary from Adam Clarke, David Brown, Albert Barnes, R. Haldane, Charles Hodge, John Gill and , F. B. Meyer Adam Clarke was one of John Wesley's followers and a great preacher. David Brown and A. R. Fausset were two of three contributors to the giant one-volume Bible commentary, A Commentary, Critical, Explanatory, and Practical, on the Old and New Testament. Albert Barnes is best known for his Notes on the New Testament, from which his writings are drawn for this volume. R. Haldane's commentary on Romans is widely acclaimed as one of the best ever written on this letter. The commentaries on 1 and 2 Corinthians and Ephesians by the Princetown theologian Charles Hodge would come at the top of the list of most people's choice for a classic commentary on these letters. Of Martin Luther's contribution John Bunyan said "I do prefer this book of Martin Luther upon the Galatians (excepting the Holy Bible) before all the books that ever I have seen." John Gill preached in the same church as C. H Spurgeon, and F. B. Meyer's commentary on Hebrews comes from his book Way Into the Holiest.
