* * * Lane West's book, The Shifting Sands is a Grabber right from the beginning; due largely to the visceral first person narrative used to acquaint us with Aaron the Warrior. The author's impeccable visual descriptions titillate the reader's vision of the situations and surroundings. Lane West is a novelist with extreme literary courage to risk unleashing such an extravagant imagination with carefree abandon. Al Cairo.(Veteran freelance producer, director and writer for over 50 of America's top Corporations) * * * I began reading this book very much a skeptic. I critique horror, (Steven King, Anne Rice and Dean Koontz) but The Shifting Sands was refreshing change of pace. This erotic love story with a mythological spin quite surprised me with the clever twists of plot and the excitement, frustrations and joy brought by love as it catches the unwilling heart. There were times that I just couldn't put the book down until the end of the chapter and then I couldn't wait to pick it back up again to see how Aaron, Samanda, Kaybra and their army would handle their trials and tribulations, while all the time Aaron was quietly struggling against his rising desire for the beautiful Samanda who seems determined to provoke him at every opportunity. The women in this book are strong willed, sexually charged individuals who are not left to the mercy of anyone or anything, in fact, they are capable of not only defending themselves but also taking what they desire. I honestly wondered how everything would finally fit together, when it did it led to an ending that left me craving for the sequel. Sue Harrod.(Literary critique The Midwestern)
