The Making of Modern Law: U.S. Supreme Court Records and Briefs, 1832-1978 contains the world's most comprehensive collection of records and briefs brought before the nation's highest court by leading legal practitioners - many who later became judges and associates of the court. It includes transcripts, applications for review, motions, petitions, supplements and other official papers of the most-studied and talked-about cases, including many that resulted in landmark decisions. This collection serves the needs of students and researchers in American legal history, politics, society and government, as well as practicing attorneys. This book contains copies of all known US Supreme Court filings related to this case including any transcripts of record, briefs, petitions, motions, jurisdictional statements, and memorandum filed. This book does not contain the Court's opinion. The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1968, worked at Boston University and the University of Illinois at Chicago for a short time, and is now Vincent DePaul Professor Emerita of Mathematical Sciences at DePaul University. She got interested in cognitive challenges involved with teaching analytical thinking and proof after her initial research in commutative algebra, and she authored a number of essays on the subject, one of which was selected for inclusion in The Best Writing on Mathematics 2012. She has given numerous talks on discrete mathematics and coordinated sessions on discrete mathematics instruction at national conferences.

She is the co-author of Precalculus and Discrete Mathematics, which was produced as part of the University of Chicago School Mathematics Project, in addition to Discrete Mathematics with Applications and Discrete Mathematics: An Introduction to Mathematical Thinking. In June 2005, the third edition of Discrete Mathematics with Applications was honored with a Texty Award for Textbook Excellence. Epp was an associate editor of Mathematics Magazine from 1991 to 2001, and she co-organized an worldwide symposium on teaching logical thinking, which was funded by the Institute for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science (DIMACS).
