Rotten: No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs by Kent Zimmerman

I have no time for lies and fantasy, and neither should you. Enjoy or die.--John Lydon

Punk has been romanticized and embalmed in various media. It has been portrayed as an English class revolt and a reckless diversion that became a marketing dream. But there is no disputing its starting point. Every story of punk starts with its idols, the Sex Pistols, and its sneering hero was Johnny Rotten.

In Rotten, Lydon looks back at himself, the Sex Pistols, and the no future disaffection of the time. Much more than just a music book, Rotten is an oral history of punk: angry, witty, honest, poignant, and crackling with energy.

Lydon, John: - JOHN J. LYDON is Principal Lecturer and Director of the MA in Catholic School Leadership at St Mary's University, London. He is a Professor and Co-Director of an undergraduate programme of the University of Notre Dame. He is currently involved in the establishment of a global Masters in Catholic School Leadership led by Australian Catholic University. He was reappointed thematic expert of the international Catholic-inspired NGO Forum for Education working in partnership with the Vatican Secretariat of State in 2018. He is a member of the Executive of the World Union of Catholic Teachers and the Catholic Association of Teachers Schools and Colleges (UK).
