Sheltered Emily by Biola Shofu

Sheltered Emily is a triumphant, fictionalized, memoir about a painful struggle to maturity. It begins in an idyllic English foster home where Emily is molested by her adult foster brother, Ronnie. He's laid a foundation for similar scenarios to occur in adulthood. However, she gets to know God at an early age and develops an intimate relationship with him. Emily's mother uproots her to London to live with her siblings when she is of school age. She feels alienated from her mother who exhibits a life void of the intimacy with which Emily had grown accustomed. She's later relocated to Nigeria where she meets her father for the first time before being sent off to boarding school (which felt more like a boot camp ). She befriends Bayo, in University, who turns out to be another abuser. When school ends, they make a quick exit back to London. Emily's unresolved past leads her to marry a disparaging husband. They move to the US together where she battles a barrage of trials and setbacks after her marriage fails. Emily's left with raising three children. Bouts of homelessness follow, but Emily trains her mind on her talents away from the strains of life. Still, her trouble crescendo's to a tipping point when She flees a murderous relationship. She isn't aware of the reason for her quandary, but she unwittingly seeks to get to the bottom of it. Her treasure lies in fervent faith, which only flourishes when she experiences grief. Emily knows that God's got her back. Author, Biola Shofu's testimony demonstrates God's ability to use our dire experiences, to glorify his kingdom and that faith boldly functions She shows how we too have a choice in our healing, by facing our past. Get an inside view of Emily's adventures and: - walk with her into her first shelter experience - observe where Emily focuses her mind when she is in trouble - understand why Emily trusted God, come what may - witness modern-day wonders
