Dave Goulson is a professor of biological sciences at the University of Stirling, where he studied biology at Oxford University. He formed the Bumblebee Conservation Trust in 2006, and the Bioscience and Biotechnology Research Council honored him with the Heritage Lottery Award for Outstanding Environmental Initiative and Social Innovator of the Year in 2010.
