The Timeless Cavern by John Dingley
Eleven year old Marged Evans is upset when her mother turns off the TV and sends her outside with her brother to explore. She hears of the myths, legends and the histories that surround the cave on the edge of their hill farm. Being so intrigued by the stories she goes back alone the next day and what she finds deep in that cave will change her life forever. Although this is a work of fun and fantasy, it, unlike similar works by others uses a minimum of fantasy enabling the main characters to weave through a variety of historical happenings. Sometimes we forget that seemingly isolated, small communities are touched by many things that take place in the world at large. Mixing the fantasy of time travel to light up reality can make most of history a desirable, knowledge giving adventure. The book is a Midwest Book Award finalist.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR John Dingley grew up on a hill farm in Mid Wales and now lives in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. He has been called a renaissance man who has shown a variety of notable talents. He is an animal scientist and his love of nature has involved him in a major role in wildlife reintroduction. He is on the board of directors of the Raptor Resource Project and the Decorah Eagle Cam. His love of theatre has led to performances in a variety of roles, both in Wales and around the Mid West A noted storyteller and singer he can occasionally be discovered performing his one man show, John Dingley and the Biggest Pack of Lies You Ever heard. Once in a while he sings the US anthem at sporting events. He is a master glass cutter and engraver as well as being an accomplished stonemason. This is Johns first written work of fiction and he is currently working on the second and third books in the series; THE TIMELESS CAVERN - Marged Evans and the Pebbles of MORE Time and Marged Evans and the pebbles of Distance John takes a major interest in urban agriculture, sustainable agriculture and permaculture and has spent time teaching urban young people in the efficient use of gardening and agricultural hand-tools.
